Despite my absence from Origami right now, i'm still watching new origami models on dA and flickr from time to time.
Today I noticed that there was a new picture of Kamiya's Ryu Zin (Eastern Dragon) online that looked awfully familiar.
As it turned out the person posting the picture was using an old photo of the model that can be found online.
Looking at the description of the the model it was clear that the person isn't even aware that the Ryu Zin is folded from only one sheet of paper. Besides stealing pictures from Kamiya, he also took most of Won Park's amazing money origami models and posted them as his own (Here is Won Park's Journal entry about the theft: [link]).
Luckily observant dA-Users found out quite fast about the theft and reported the infrigments, so hopefully the pictures will be deleted and the art thief will be banned from dA in the near future.

Even though the theft was carried out very poorly, it angers me immensely to see that people would go that length to steal works of artists who have committed a lot of time to create artwork that brings joy and astonishment.
I'm back from the anual German Origami Convention. The journey to Salem, the city were the convention was held took over seven hours with the car. I went there with a couple of friends from Frankfurt (all are Origami folders).
The first evening wasn't that eventful at all. We assembled our exhibition models and went to bed. The Second day was full of different possibilities which whom we could fill the day. There were workshops provided by other folders, several hours of "free folding" and of course breaks. There were also two paper shops, where you could buy a range of different papers, books and folding tools, a heaven for folders so to speak. I took two workshops in total where I Iearned how to fold an action model with a bear (a pop up card ith a bear inside) and how to fold an eagle. There was a main hall where the guests could watch the exhibition of origami artwork from folders like us and other people who came from all over Germany.
The whole convention was centered around US Origami Master Eric Gjerde and his tessallations. So there were natuarally a lot workshops for tessallations. I am a figurative artist, so those were suited for me, but i taught some of my models to others and gave a workshop on how to fold a donkey, that was designed by me.
All in all it was a very nice con (besides my inflamed finger tips) were I was able to meet friends again and also make some new friends!

To give you some idea on how a origami convention might look like, here is a link to some pictures i took at the weekend:

Tomorrow i will be gone for the weekend to the annual German Origami Convention in Salem. I won't be near an internet connection, but the positive part about this convention is that there will be only origami fanatics like me. I hope to get some good ideas and new techniques from the con.
Yesterday was a great day. I didn't expect at all to get so much responses for one of my works. It has been immensely insane and  great to get a Daily Deviation and be able to see all your kind comments. As an origami artist I'm thankful that this kind of artwork can get such a huge amount of acknowledgement on a place like deviantArt where so much talented people come together.
So everyone thank you very much for your support!!!
I noticed deviantart a while before but i didn't create an account until i heared about it from others who use it too. I will mainly use this place to display my own origami designs and hope to get inspirations by other folders and artists!
