I designed this sofa for a facebook-challenge.

Folded from a 20 x 20 cm paper of elephant-hide.

now THAT's what I call REAL origami!!!!!!!!
Damn, here, all they upload is those "3D shapes" and no one-piece models................
It seems that there are few here, fewer than Flickr, who upload one-piece models
your object designs are so amazing!
And I'm proud to say that I'm one of the few who uploads 1-piece models.
Well done, very smooth, no wrinkles, superb design!

Thank you very much tskorigami! It's nice to see a familiar folder on deviantart!
It is true, i haven't seen much original origami-pieces in my short time here. I think there are less origami-designers like us around at deviantart than there are on flickr.

you are right. neither is our friend, Pete, here. The group has that "3D origami", which, in my eyes, is not origami. it's modular, and they don't call it modular. 3D origami, they call it. I hate that. Tomoko fuse does modulars too, does she call it "3D origami"?
and........I know some complex folders here on deviantart. Those whom I know are Chad Killeen, Shuki Kato, Brian Chan. Chad:[link]

3D origami is certainly not the proper name for that origami technique. It sounds like other origami styles are inferior when it comes to the volume of the model. I guess it is often folded, because it is easy to learn for beginners and you can be very creative. People starting with it, might only know that name for that.
Most orgami books with that module technique in germany call it "Tangrami" not sure if that is an international accepted term for it?

what I ACTUALLY think is #D origami is: It is the folding of a flat base into a beautiful 3d model. as goes with most lang insects.
